Ripon’s local amateur orchestra provides playing opportunities for a wide range of local musicians.  Directed by Xenophon Kelsey, they enjoy rehearsing and performing a wide range of music in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

Members benefit from Xen’s extensive international experience as a composer, arranger, conductor and instrumentalist. Significantly his unusual wealth of knowledge as both string and wind player is a huge source of support for players of all abilities. We are always on the look-out for new members be they young instrumentalists looking for an outlet for their talents, those who have not played for many years or those who have decided to take up an instrument in later life.

Rehearsal take place on Tuesday evenings from 7.30pm -9.30pm at Bishop Monkton Village Hall.

Players need to be capable of playing at about grade 5 standard and new members are very welcome. If you are interested in joining us please contact our chairman Simon Robinson  by email  hartwith@icloud.com

Update Sept 2021 – Its great to be back folks!

We are back rehearsing weekly. We are following “covid safe” guidance. Hand gel is provided on entry to the village hall, players are  requested to wear face masks on arrival and when moving around the hall. Players are requested to continue wearing face mask when playing where able (clearly not wind & brass!). We are using individual stands and are seated 1m + apart.
